* Vail Whitewater Race SeriesVail Whitewater Race Series

The Vail Whitewater Race Series gives local and visiting kayakers, stand up paddle boarders and two-person raft teams the opportunity to race down Gore Creek from the Covered Bridge to the International Bridge during the peak runoff period in May and June. Each week a different course/format is featured to test competitors skills and provide exciting spectator viewing. An awards party takes place after each event at a local restaurant. The races takes place every Tuesday from 5 - 7pm. The series is presented by the Town of Vail, Alpine Quest Sports and the Vail Recreation District.

The 2017 event saw a significant growth in athlete attendance with more than 3,300 participants and overall spectator attendance was estimated at 73,680. Under human power, outdoor athletes compete in 11 sports and 27 disciplines for over $120,000 in prize money. Lifestyle events include: the GoPro Outdoor Reels film series, the Mountain Click photography competition, and interactive expo area, Gear Town, the Mountains of Music concert series and the Outside Adventure Film School.

With shows ranging from rock to country to bluegrass to funk and beyond, the Hot Summer Nights has become synonymous with summer for locals and visitors alike. Throngs of music lovers gather at the Amphitheater each week to enjoy sunshine, picnics, friends and incredible free music. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and all shows start at 6:30 p.m. Come to the amphitheater early and enjoy Hot Summer Happy Hour with food and drink specials from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
